Syletta Korean violet

Most of us think of flowers when we grow violets, but on this one I appreciate the foliage more. The glossy green, heart-shaped leaves have thick, showy, silver veins and can compete with any coral bell on the market.

I don't want to sell the flowers short, though! In May this charmer produces light purple blooms that hover just above the variegated leaves.

Best along shady borders as a groundcover or edger, it forms nice little clumps and will reseed (but not to the point of invasiveness). Although they do fine without it, violets appreciate a light application of fertilizer.
